The Amtrak Downeaster has stations in Dover, Durham, and Exeter which will take you directly to Maine.

The MBTA operates commuter rail lines in the eastern half of the state which all end in Boston. If you live near Haverhill or Woburn, you can get on the Amtrak Downeaster there and take that directly to Maine.

Local bus lines in Rhode Island will take you to Providence where you can use an MBTA commuter rail to Boston.
