— Take I-95 N to Exit 44.
— Continue on I-295 to Exit 6A, Forest Avenue South.

— Concord Coach lines run from Portland to Bangor, ME. They stop at most towns along I-95 and US-1.
— Concord Coach lines run from Central/Western NH to Boston, MA.
— Concord Coach Lines operates a bus that travels directly to Portland from NYC.

— If you're north of Bangor, the Cyr bus lines run from Bangor all the way to Presque Isle.

— Greyhound buses run from Vermont to Boston.

— Peter Pan buses run from Western MA to Boston.
[Train] Travel via Amtrak Downeaster
Amtrak Downeaster stops in Saco and Wells and these can take you to Portland.
The Amtrak Downeaster has stations in Dover, Durham, and Exeter which will take you directly to Maine.
The MBTA operates commuter rail lines in the eastern half of the state which all end in Boston. If you live near Haverhill or Woburn, you can get on the Amtrak Downeaster there and take that directly to Maine.
Local bus lines in Rhode Island will take you to Providence where you can use an MBTA commuter rail to Boston.

Take Amtrak to the Portland Station, and hop on the Greater Portland Metro bus route 1.
