Accessibility

Do You Know We Have an Accessibility Department?

We do! And we're here for you.

Furcationland's Accessibility Department exists to make sure every attendee can enjoy the convention with dignity, independence, and support - no matter their access needs.

Accessibility isn't an afterthought - it's part of how Furcationland welcomes its community. Whether you need help navigating the space, managing sensory overload, or troubleshooting an unexpected issue, we're here to help.

Friendly Reminder

You don't need to have everything figured out to talk to us.

If something feels hard, confusing, or overwhelming - that's reason enough to stop by.

We're not just here to solve problems. We're here to make sure you can enjoy the Furcationland experience fully.

Line Management

We understand that long lines can be difficult for some attendees. Furcationland offers accessibility support to help guests who may have trouble standing in line for extended periods of time.

If you need assistance with line management, please visit the Accessibility Desk or speak with an Accessibility team member. Our team can help determine appropriate accommodations based on your needs. In many cases, we may provide guidance or assistance that allows you to participate in events without needing to remain in long lines. The exact accommodation may vary depending on the event and location, but our goal is always to help ensure you can enjoy the convention safely and comfortably.

We kindly ask that accessibility accommodations for lines be used only by those who need them so that we can support all attendees fairly.

Reserved Seating in Maine Events

Reserved seating is available at Maine Events for attendees who require accessibility accommodations.

A limited number of seats are set aside to support guests who may have difficulty standing for long periods, navigating crowded seating areas, or who require space for mobility devices.

If you need access to reserved seating, please speak with a member of the Accessibility Team or visit the Accessibility Desk prior to the event. Our staff can provide guidance and help ensure you are able to access the appropriate seating area.

We kindly ask that reserved seating be used only by those who need accessibility accommodations so that space remains available for attendees who rely on it. Accessibility staff may assist with directing guests to the reserved seating area and coordinating entry when needed.

ASL

Furcationland recognizes that some attendees may use American Sign Language (ASL) as their primary form of communication.

At this time, ASL interpretation is not currently provided for convention events this year. However, the Accessibility Team may be able to assist in coordinating interpretation services for specific panels or programming if requests are made in advance for 2027.

If you would benefit from ASL interpretation, please email the Accessibility team before December 2026 so we can explore possible options.

During the convention weekend, attendees may also visit the Accessibility Desk for assistance or to discuss accessibility needs with our team.

While we may not always be able to fulfill every request, we will do our best to help support attendees and make Furcationland as accessible as possible.

Quiet Room

Furcationland provides a Quiet Room (hotel room 1027) for attendees who may need a calm space away from the activity and stimulation of the convention.

The Quiet Room is intended for guests who need a place to decompress, rest, or take a sensory break during the convention weekend. This space is kept as quiet and low-stimulation as possible so that attendees can relax comfortably.

We ask that attendees using the Quiet Room help maintain a peaceful environment by keeping conversations quiet, silencing electronic devices, and being respectful of others who may be using the space.

The Quiet Room is not intended for socializing or phone calls, but rather as a space for attendees who need a moment of calm before returning to convention activities.

If you need help locating the Quiet Room or have questions about its use, please visit the Accessibility Desk, where our team will be happy to assist you.

Service Animal

Furcationland welcomes attendees who rely on service animals.

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a service animal is defined as a dog that has been individually trained to perform specific tasks for a person with a disability.

Service animals are permitted in convention spaces where attendees are normally allowed. For the comfort and safety of all guests, service animals must remain under the control of their handler at all times and should be harnessed, leashed, or tethered unless those devices interfere with the animal's work.

Accessibility staff or convention safety personnel may ask the two questions permitted under ADA guidelines:

  • Is the animal required because of a disability?
  • What task has the animal been trained to perform?

Please note that emotional support animals, therapy animals, or comfort animals are not considered service animals under ADA regulations and may not be permitted in all convention spaces.

If you have questions regarding service animals at Furcationland, please visit the Accessibility Desk, where our team will be happy to assist you.

Hotel Accessibility Rooms

Accessible guest rooms are available through the convention hotel for attendees who require mobility, auditory, or visual accommodations.

These rooms are managed directly by the hotel and typically include features such as accessible bathrooms, roll-in showers, grab bars, and other accommodations designed to support guests with disabilities.

If you require an accessible room, we recommend requesting one when making your hotel reservation, as the number of accessible rooms is limited and they may fill quickly.

For specific questions about room features or availability, please contact the hotel directly. The hotel staff will be able to provide the most accurate information about accessible room options.

If you experience any accessibility issues during your stay, the Accessibility team and hotel staff will both be available to assist you.
