Revised 30 March 2025

Press & Media

Definitions

Press refers to individuals representing established news organizations such as newspapers, magazines, television news, radio news, and reputable online news publications. The primary focus of these individuals is to report factual news and information to the public.

Media, on the other hand, is a broader category encompassing content creators such as bloggers, YouTubers, podcasters, and independent journalists who cover Furcationland for their respective platforms and audiences.

Badge Requirements and Escorts

All members of the press and media are required to visibly display an official Furcationland Press Badge or Media Badge at all times while they are within convention spaces. This badge must be worn on a lanyard around their neck, and lanyards will be provided by Furcationland. If a press or media representative does not possess the appropriate badge, they must be continuously accompanied by a designated Furcationland Director whenever they are in convention spaces. It is important to note that individuals who do not have the correct Furcationland-issued badge and are not being escorted by a Director are strictly prohibited from conducting any interviews or taking photographs, audio, or video footage while within convention spaces.

Responsibilities of Attendees

We ask that all Furcationland attendees take the following actions when they are in the vicinity of individuals who are identified as press or media:

Awareness of Recording

Furcationland attendees should be aware that audio and/or video recordings are frequently made within convention spaces, and as a result, their likenesses may appear in these recordings. For the purpose of enhancing the safety and security of our attendees, certain areas within the convention space, as well as designated convention personnel, may be equipped with audio and/or video recording devices. By attending Furcationland, all attendees agree to grant Furcationland the non-exclusive, royalty-free right to utilize their likeness(es) in promotional materials, including highlight videos, without any expectation of compensation.

Guidelines for Personal Bloggers and Podcasters

Furcationland generally welcomes personal bloggers and podcasters. A formal Press Badge or Media Badge is typically not required for these individuals as long as they adhere to the following limitations:

Recorded Interviews and Media Representation

Please note that Furcationland considers any form of recorded interview conducted within convention spaces to constitute media representation, which necessitates an official Furcationland Press Badge or Media Badge. The determination regarding whether a Press Badge or a Media Badge is required for any individual rests solely with Furcationland. If deemed necessary, a Press Badge or Media Badge may be issued with the condition that the holder must be accompanied by a Furcationland escort. Furthermore, Furcationland retains the right to revoke any Press Badge or Media Badge at any time at its sole discretion. It is important to remember that possession of a Press Badge or Media Badge does not grant general admission to Furcationland; a separate registration is required for entry.
